Today I want to cover my newborn favorites! I had a lot of requests for this topic so I hope you guys find it helpful! I will be incorporating things I used with Emma as well as some new things I will be using with Noah. All things baby have been on the mind since I am not 4-6 weeks out from having this baby! So exciting. yet so nerve-racking.
I always like to have a few different kinds of swaddles for baby, each baby is so different and they can be picky about the kind of material or the way it wraps. Emma wasn’t a fan of swaddles at all, she tolerated them but we didn’t end up using them long. Personally, I like the swaddles that do the work for you, I hate using blankets to swaddle, mostly because I suck at it. My top 3 favorites are these from target, the Ollie swaddle and the love to dream. I have linked them all HERE so you can check them out, but they are all amazing and so easy to use. What’s cool with the ollie swaddle and the Velcro ones are easier. Diaper changes!
PJ’s. Trust me with this is you are a new mom. Nobody has time for snaps at 3 am in the dark when all you want to do is get back to bed. Zips are the easiest. They also make amazing Tie pj’s that work really well or these open-ended ones. All linked for you HERE! Now I do have some snap pj’s but I usually use them during the day, night time will always be these other options.
Boppy pillows. I have two and let me explain why. The first I use for breast or bottle feeding. It’s much easier than propping a pillow although you can do that too. Also, nice for just holding and rocking baby so they don’t get tired, and later on I use it to help with tummy time. I was obsessed with my boppy pillow when I had Ems and I know it will be used a lot again. I also get the boppy lounger, it’s nice to have a little something for baby to lounge in, you can also get ones like the snuggle me organic or doc a tot but I am ballin’ on a budget here. I have honestly heard amazing things about those as well. All are linked here for you to view and research.
I changed up the basinet I got for Noah. I hated the one I used for Emma so I did some research and found this co sleeper one that I am really excited about. I love the mesh sides and the fact that this can attach to your bed and have the railing pulled down but it also has wheels and can be moved around the house. Pack and plays are also great to use, I used that when Emma was older for naps and containment also. Again do research it is whatever will work best for your situation but these are all great options here.
Onesies. Simple onesies are always great to have, with a newborn there’s a chance you will always have to have a change of clothes on hands so I like getting plain and simple onesies that match a lot. Personally, I also like keeping it simple and logo- free.
Burp cloths were huge when I had Emma so I stocked up for Noah. Emma had reflux and was always spitting up so I always had a burp cloth on me. Here are some of my favorite kind.
I used bibs for spit up catchers than for feeding time with emma, I got cute ones to match her outfits because she spit up so much so I did the same with Noah just to be on the cautious side.
Baby carriers! I am a hugeeeee baby wearing fan and I hope Noah likes it as uch as Emma did because it will make life so much easier. My absolute favorite is the boppy carrier. When Emma got older and bigger I also used the tula which I really liked, it was easy to get on and off and I really liked the lilliebaby too, specially for outdoors since it was breathable and has a little face shade for baby. The boppy trumps all for me because it is like a traditional snap carrier and a wrap all in one, so comfortable, supportive and just snuggles your newborn in. All linked here for you to check out.
I have a binky baby on my hands so I got a couple different kind for Noah. Ive noticed babies are picky with their binkys, just like everything else, so I have a couple different kinds and once he chooses what he likes I will then purchase most of those. Here are our absolute favorites, Emma actually loves all of these so its nice to have options, especially if were out and about and need to buy one on the spot. Also let me give you a little mom tip. When Emma was young I was spending a lot on the wubunubs and they would get so dirty and hard to clean so I started buying the avient and putting stuffed animals on them. Everything is linked so you will see what I mean but so much easier to clean when you can separate them and throw the stuffy in the wash and the binky in the dish washer.
If you want a baby monitor I am going to give you the three top choices we have used and loved! Currently we are using the lollipop because it has an app and goes to our phones but were going to do the owlet with Noah especially since were using the smart sock with him. The Motorola is good too and has a separate screen which is nice to keep on you. All have really nice picture and sound quality.
This is my all time favorite stroller and it turns into a double so I can use it with both kids! Before I bought it I used the urbini with emma as a cheaper option that still worked well it just didn’t have the best storage. As for a jogging stroller I love BOBS all the way. I am also a huge britax fan. I linked everything here for you
For carseats I use britax infant b- safe carseats with both kids, it’s a brand I trust and love, I have also heard amazing things about graco and maxi cosi. Also you’ll want to decide is you are going straight for a convertible seat or doing an infant seat frist. I do infant firs and around 6-8 months will transition to a convertible.
I am linking all my infant bathtime favs here, I like to have some nice washcloths and towels on hand, a little cup to pour water on baby, I use a foam mat instead of a bath for the first 6 ish months, its honestly easier and cheaper.
I keep a thermometer, nail clippers, q tips and a nasal aspirator on hand for a newborn too.
its nice to have both light and a little more heavy duty blankets for baby, in my opinion.
For me a baby bouncer is a must and there are so many amazing options. These are fun for babies but also allow me to get things done while being able to keep an eye on baby too if they cant be worn. Here are a few bouncers I really like.
A swing is another nice thing to have around, get the graco slim spaces, its cheap and gets the job done honestly. I will link more here, than just that one because all babies are different and like different things.
A nice mirror for the car is really helpful too so you can check on baby while in the car.
If you are formula feeding having some ore made formula bottles on hand is great! Also a few bottles to see what baby likes, I love dr browns and como tomo! Also a tip, when they’re newborns use the preemie nipples, it’s slow flow like breast feeding.
If you’re breast feeding having a nice pump and storage bags can be helpful if you plan on pumping, if not then you have all you need!
This pretty much covers everything I use for my infant, honestly it’s a learn as you go experience, babies are very trial and error. I am still learning with Emma every single day. Are there things you would have added to the list? What’s a must have for you?
