I am a light diaper bag packer. I love keeping it simple. This time around as I was packing I thought it would be good to share with you guys what I am bringing along with me. I will link as many items as I can and will tag all the companies I purchased or received items from. Packing this bag is really making me excited for Noah to join our family. I cannot believe its only 2 short months away. With Emma I didn’t pack my bag until I was 34 weeks but this time Dustin is starting work August 1st and will not be home much and I am pregnant with a toddler so I want to make sure I am 100% prepared for Noah before Dustin goes back to work. Knowing my luck ill go into labor before my scheduled induction date, running around like a chicken with my head cut off trying to juggle Emma and my sanity.
What’s in the bag for baby?
I Keep it very simple for baby. I am bringing one onsie for my little man, the one I have chosen was gifted to me from Bonsie baby. I am obsessed with this because it promotes skin to skin without having to completely unclothe baby. Emma was naked pretty much the whole time in the hospital.
I also bring a super cute going home outfit, I chose this black and white outfit for or little guy to come home in. Nothing crazy, super simple.
Swaddle. Emma lived in her swaddle the whole hospital stay so I am bringing the same one I used for her, the Velcro’s make it so easy, I suck at swaddling blankets.
A newborn nest sent me the cutest set for Noah’s hospital pictures. I am so excited. I am opting out of the hospital blanket and using this amazing swaddler they sent me instead. I truly wish I did this with Emma because it makes it so special and sentimental.
Binky. I personally bring a binky to the hospital, I understand this can cause confusion or problems with breastfeeding so I advise to do your own research but I am bringing my ryan and rose cutie pat for him, these are amazing binky’s, and this link here will give you $5 off!
I do not bring diapers or wipes to the hospital as mine provides all of this for the baby. They also provide a breast pump if it is needed. I advise asking your hospital is they provide these necessities for baby or if you will need to bring your own supplies!
What’s in the bag for mom?
Again, keeping it very simple with my own packing too.
Reusable nipple pads. I bring these incase my milk comes in and also because I leak a little colostrum. I like reusable as they feel more comfortable.
Nursing top. I bring this and usually wear this the entire stay as it’s the easiest way to give baby access to the boob. And they’re comfortable and light.
Comfortable pj set. I only brought underwear and a nursing top with Emma and I wished I brought comfy pj’s because so many people were in and out and I had to cover up so I am bringing this very comfortable pj set you can find in my amazon store under style.
Always women’s diapers and heavy overnight pads. The mesh underwear the hospital gives you are so uncomfortable I decided to bring my own this time and I have heard it makes a huge difference! Bringing heavy duty pads for more comfort as well. I think this is going to be a game changer
Honest nipple balm. If you’re a first-time mama I am sorry to have to tell you if you haven’t heard before but breastfeeding/ pumping hurts and for me personally I had super sore chapped nipples that even bled at some point. Nipple butter will be your best friend. Whats nice with honest brand is you don’t have to wipe it off before feedings. Earth mama is another wonderful brand.
Comfortable underwear. Nothing is comfortable down there after birth so I do what I can to help. Larger comfy undies are the best!
Comfortable socks! I always bring my fuzzy ones.
Chapstick! Chapstick will be your best friend.
Toiletries: I bought a little toiletry set from target for $4 and I used it to bring my toothpaste, mouthwash, face wash and face lotion. I have an extra toothbrush I packed and I bought a travel sized deodorant, dry shampoo, contact case/ solution and glasses.
What’s in the bag for dad:
Dustin is the easiest to pack for, he literally brings a change of clothes, Pj’s a hat and an extra pillow. Trust me when I say BRING THE EXTRA PILLOW. The couch bed they give husbands in the hospital are not comfy!
Bring a charger for your phone, a camera if you want and a computer if you want to watch Netflix or anything else on.
Here I am attaching a little checklist for mom dad and baby, It’s a super simple guide but if you want to bring more you do you mama! I just want to lay out the basics in case you don’t know where to start. I have all my diaper bag essentials linked in my Liketoknow.it and I will have a what’s in my bag video on my Instagram up as well!
