Having kids brings a whole new light to the Holidays. I love seeing everything through their eyes and find myself trying to do anything I can to make the holidays special for them. Something I loved doing as a kid was going to zoo lights, and I haven’t done it as of recently, until this year. The kids are both old enough to start doing more so this year we attended and It did not disappoint.
Entering the zoo everything was lit up, Emma was so excited seeing all of the lights strung up as animals, pointing out all of her favorites. There were light shows, Christmas trees, and a fun kids’ area where they could jump on these platforms to make them light up. There were a lot of things for both the kids and parents to do that made the night so special, and it took about an hour and a half to get through everything. The kids were happy the entire time and when we got home they were out for the night.
Highlights
SANTA: The zoo gives the children the chance to meet Santa, Emma thought it was so cool that he was there and loved getting to meet him.
The Grinch: The night we visited the grinch was there doing a live performance which was so much fun for not only the kids but the adults to watch.
Snowfall: While walking through the lights there was an area where they had “snow” falling and this was so magical for the kids. It was so much fun watching all the kids run around so excited about the snow.
Live Music: there was also Live music that the adults enjoyed, it was nice to listen and watch while we waited in line.
Treats: There were multiple opportunities to get our hands on treats and hot chocolate. we will never be people to turn down hot chocolate.
Carousel: The carousel was operable and Emma had to ride it. did we go twice?… maybe…
Kids area: There was the coolest kids area where all the kids were jumping around on these platforms making them glow up. It was a nice change of pace allowing the kids to run around and get those zoomies out before proceeding to the lights.
If you’re local to Tucson or just visiting I highly recommend going to see Zoo Lights at the Reid Park Zoo. The lights were beautiful, there were plenty of photo opportunities, the experience was magical and my kids had a blast. This mama left happy.
